Step further back in time to visit Saqqara, home to Egypt's oldest pyramid, the Step Pyramid of Djoser, built 4,700 years ago. This revolutionary structure marks the evolution from mastaba tombs to true pyramids. Explore the vast necropolis with its nobles' tombs featuring stunning reliefs and vibrant colors preserved for millennia. Then visit Memphis, the ancient capital of Egypt, to see the colossal statue of Ramses II and the Alabaster Sphinx. This tour offers a fascinating glimpse into the Old Kingdom and the origins of Egyptian civilization, away from the crowds of Giza.
Saqqara was amazing! Fewer tourists meant we could really take our time and appreciate the sites. The Step Pyramid is fascinating.
